New Addition on the Way!

Our biggest piece of news is that our family will be expanding to a family of 4 this summer! We are thrilled about this and can't wait. My official due date is August 1st, but the docs say that it will be by the first based on what happened with Jay. He was delivered 5 weeks early via emergency c-section because I suddenly developed severe preeclampsia. So far things are going well and we're hoping to make it well into July without any bed rest.

It's been interesting to talk with Jay about the new baby. We aren't going to find out if the sex of the baby beforehand, but if you ask Jay the answer changes daily. His current favorite is to say that his baby brother/sister will be a boy and a girl. Not sure he quite understands that concept...

We're trying to prepare him for at least some of the changes that will be coming soon, one of which is that he and the baby will be sharing a room after the first few months. He knows that his crib is going to be back in his room and the top bed of his bunk beds will be going away. I love that he answers that "his baby" is going to be sleeping in the crib. Glad we've got that straight! I'm sure it's going to be a rude awakening for him to have the baby in the house all the time and to share Mommy and Daddy, but we'll just have to see how it goes.

It's been a while...

Well I had the best of intentions when starting this that I'd be able to keep up with it. That obviously hasn't gone as planned since it's been almost a year since I've posted anything (even though I often think about something I should put up). Needless to say, we've had quite an eventful year with lots of fun things in the works. Quick updates on all of us - It's hard to believe that Jay is 3! He continues to amaze me with things he wants to do and what comes out of his mouth (including a few choice words that we like to pretend we don't hear). Most days he loves going to school and think it's pretty special that he has a school just like Mommy. Joe's still working at O'Brien and Keane on various projects. He's been studying hard for the 7 exams he needs to pass in order to become a licensed architect. So far he's taken 3 - passed the first 2 and we're waiting on the results from the third. I'm still teaching 4th grade. With 32 kids in my class, it's been an interesting year to say the least. I'm looking forward to spring break finally arriving in a week!
